THYROTREX – 5mg – 100 Tab.
T3 – Triiodothyronine 25 mcg/tab 100 Tablets
For oral use
Therapeutic Class: Hormone
Composition:
Each tablet of THYROTREX contains:
- 25 mcg T3- Triiodothyronine
Characteristic:
Liothyronine is the most potent form of thyroid hormone.
It acts on the body to increase the basal metabolic rate, affect protein synthesis and increase the body’s sensitivity to catecholamines (such as adrenaline) by permissiveness.
The thyroid hormones are essential to proper development and differentiation of all cells of the human body. These hormones also regulate protein, fat, and carbohydrate metabolism, affecting how human cells use energetic compounds.
Indication:
Liothyronine is used for treating low thyroid function.
It is also used to treat or prevent different types of goiters, as an aid to diagnose certain thyroid conditions, or to treat patients who are allergic to other thyroid medicines. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor. Liothyronine is a thyroid hormone. It works by replacing or supplementing the natural thyroid hormones in the body.
Contraindication:
Thyroid hormones should be used with great caution in a number of circumstances where the integrity of the cardiovascular system particularly the coronary arteries, is suspected. These include patients with an gina pectoris or the elderly, in whom there is a greater likelihood of occult cardiac disease. In these patients Liothyronine therapy should be initiated with low doses with due consideration for its relatively rapid onset of action.
Adverse Reactions:
Liothyronine therapy generally is well-tolerated. If symptoms occur, they usually occur because there are toxic (too high) levels of thyroid hormone (hyperthyroidism).
Symptoms of hyperthyroidism include:
chest pain, increased heart rate, cardiac arrest, excessive sweating, heat intolerance
